Average salary falls

The average salary in Israel fell 1.5% in August to NIS 7,813.

IEC and Mekorot National Water Company workers have returned to 
the top of the wage earners list, with an average gross salary of 
NIS 19,474 in August, more than in the banks and leading high-tech 
sectors, the Central Bureau of Statistics reported today. Financial 
sector employees earned an average gross salary of NIS 13,604. 

The average gross national salary fell 1.5% to NIS 7,813 in August, 
NIS 114 less than in July, and 2.3% or NIS 188 less than in June. 

The average salary of public sector employees was NIS 11,563, 
the average salary of industrial employees was NIS 10,981, and 
transport and communications sector employees earned an 
average of NIS 8,867 in August.
