However, the average salary during the first quarter rose by just 0.4%, compared with the preceding quarter. Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) and Mekorot National Water Company workers continue to receive the highest salaries - the average salary was NIS 18,598, 2.4 times the national average salary. The lowest average salary of NIS 3,772, was earned by accommodation and catering employees. More than 700,000 employees earned less than the minimum wage during the first quarter.
