Average wage falls

The average gross monthly salary went down in August by 
a further 2.4%, and stood at NIS 7,629.

The average gross monthly salary went down in August by 2.4%, 
and stood at NIS 7,629. The average wage has thus decreased by 
2.8%, or NIS 221, in two months, according to figures released by 
the Central Bureau of Statistics. However, in the past 12 months 
the average wage has increased by 0.8%, or NIS 62. 

The total number of Israeli workers was 2.57 million in August, 
a yearly increase of 97,200. 

There were 64,900 legal foreign workers in the country in August, 
who earned NIS 4,291 a month on average. Also, 11,900 Palestinians 
were employed within the Green Line via the Employment Service, 
earning NIS 7,521 a month on average.
