54,504 people, 1.8% of the workforce, earned an average gross 
salary of NIS 62,696 per month in 2005, the Ministry of Finance 
economic research and state revenue division reported today. 
The average salary of more than 1 million people, 32.5% of the 
civilian workforce was around NIS 3,500, less than the minimum wage. 
Of these, 700,000 people earned a gross salary of around NIS 1,883 only. 
39,364 people, 1.3% of the workforce, earned NIS 28,000-35,000 
a month in 2005, while 87,812, 2.9% of the workforce, earned 
NIS 21,000-28,000 a month. 

218,016 people, 7.2% of the workforce, earned NIS 14,000 - 21,000 
a month; 666,160 people, 22% of the population, earned 
NIS 7,000 - 14,000 a month, while 896,288 people, 29.6% of the 
population, earned NIS 3,500 - 7,000 a month.
