Average bank salary up 10% in 2004

The average salary of high-tech employees rose between

The average salary of bank employees rose by 10%, or NIS 1,440 
a month, in 2004 to NIS 15,947 a month, from NIS 14,507 a month 
in 2003. The figure of NIS 13,491 published by the Central Bureau 
of Statistics yesterday refers the average salary of all financial 
sector employees, including banking, insurance, and other financial 
institutions. The average salary of bank employees was NIS 15,638 
in December 2004, only NIS 874 less than the average salary of 
employees of Israel Electric Corporation and Mekorot National 
Water Company. The average salary of bank employees was 
double the national average salary of NIS 7,748. 

The average salary of high-tech employees rose 2.4-7.7% in 2004 
to NIS 15,427-17,647 a month. The breakdown by subsector of 
average high-tech salaries in 2004, compared with 2003, was as 
follows: 

Electronic communications equipment 
- NIS 17,647 in 2004, compared with NIS 16,754 in 2003, 
an increase of 5.3%, or NIS 893. 

R&D 
- NIS 16,917 in 2004, compared with NIS 15,711 in 2003, 
an increase of 7.7%, or NIS 1,206. 

Advanced medical and scientific equipment 
- NIS 16,512 in 2004, compared with NIS 16,128 in 2003, 
an increase of 2.4%, or NIS 384. 

Computer services 
- NIS 15,427 in 2004, compared with NIS 14,961 in 2003, 
an increase of 3.1%, or NIS 466.
