The average gross salary rose by a nominal 4.1%, or NIS 286, in June-July. The increase in the average gross salary in June-July followed a fall by a nominal 9.1%, or NIS 692. The Central Bureau of Statistics stated that trend figures indicate that the average salary rose by an annualized 1.2% in June-July. 26% of Israeli employees, 638,100 people, earned less than NIS 1,946, half the average gross national salary. An additional 209,700 people earned an average gross salary of NIS 5,584, 28% less than the average gross national salary. On the other hand, 65% of Israeli employees, or 1.58 million people, earned an average gross salary of NIS 9,530, 33% above the average gross national salary. The average gross salary of this group was 4.9 times that of wage-earners at the bottom of the pay scale. 107,000 Israeli employees have two jobs. Their average gross salary was NIS 7,525 in July, 4.6% above the average gross national salary. The 63,200 legal foreign workers in Israel earned an average gross salary of NIS 3,985 in July, 45% below the average gross salary of Israeli employees. The average gross salary of the 10,900 Palestinians employees in Israel was 78% of the average gross salary of legal foreign workers. The average gross salary of all employees in Israel, including foreign workers and Palestinians (2.5 million people) was NIS 7,089 in July, 1.5% less than the average gross national salary.
