Hi Everyone! Tonight I was doing holiday shopping in the supermarket. It was great seeing the sukkot decorations being sold near the entrance to the store. When I got to the checkout counter, one cashier was talking to the other about a possible deal to get Gilad Shalit released. When I got home I turned on the TV and watched the news reports. I have mixed feeling about the possible deal. Everyone wants Gilad home including myself. I am sure that every citizen in Israel is proud that the Israeli government does not give up on its MIAs. I do not know many countries in the world that make such an effort to bring their own back home. Everyone in Israel will welcome home Gilad Shalit and wish that he and his family recover from this horrible experience. Tonight I also watched the reports / speeches in Gaza. The "victory" speeches were very worrisome. There was no regret or call for stopping terrorism. Past experience has shown that many released terrorists resume their terror acts after a certain period. The only way to stop terror is to make the terrorists disappear before they have a chance to strike again. When the US took out the terrorist Bin Laden most of the western world approved. When Israel took out the terrorist Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh in Dubai the world was in an uproar. In a nutshell: the "system" is fixed against Israel. The only way Israel will stop terrorism is with a strong hand. Putting terrorists in prison with cable TV, educational classes, family visits and the hope to be released in a future prisoner swap will no longer work. It is sad to say this, but we will have to adopt a "take no prisoners" attitude to fighting terror. The world will condem but we will not have a choice. ------------------------------------------------------------- Ok....hard to change gears but tomorrow night is Sukkot and it is written V'samachta, B'chagecha - You shall rejoice on your festivals.
