Hi Everyone! Yesterday morning I was at Ben-Gurion airport to welcome 210 new olim arriving from the USA and Canada. I have been many times to these welcoming events and I always have a great experience. I highly recommend doing this at least once: either being a guest welcoming the olim or being one of the olim. I took 400 photos and posted them online at: http://www.jr.co.il/pictures/israel/history/2009/a560.htm I also uploaded the 400 photos to Facebook for name tagging. The book is about Israel's economic miracle. I highly recommend that all CJI readers read it. You will enjoy it and learn interesting tidbits about the Israeli hi-tech scene. The Hebrew Sign Maker Print Hebrew signs without Hebrew support. There are 11 fonts and two sizes to choose from. There are two special script trace fonts that will help your students learn how to write Hebrew script. In Memory Of When you visit a Jewish grave site, it is a Jewish tradition to read selected Tehillim (Book of Psalms). There are fixed verses and special verses that are read for each letter of the person's name. The special verses are called "Otiyot Neshama". The program also includes an option to print a transliterated and translated English version of the mourners' Kaddish. Feedback to the new site has been very good, so I submitted it for a "cool site of the day" review. Yesterday I got an email that they choose my site (listed as the Hebrew Sign Maker) as Cool Site of the Day for January 5, 2010. That was great because we need the rain. While living in the USA, I usually found rain to be a problem. Here in Israel I look at a rainy day very differently. Yes, you may need to adapt your plans to avoid getting wet, but you know that the rain is good for the country and people. Sometimes you need to look at things a little different to appreciate and enjoy every day happenings. At the beginning of this message I wrote that I have been many times to the airport to greet olim. The speeches are basicly the same and I know the schedule of events by heart. However, the experience is always inspiring and amazing. You just need to think for a minute and realize how great it is that olim are encouraged and welcome to live in our homeland. How many other countries have ministers that show up to welcome olim ? Ok, in 1984 my uncle was the only one who came to greet me at the airport but you understand the point. How many countries encourage Jews to move to them ? Yes, we have problems and we have to deal with them. However, instead of looking at the half empty glass, look at the half full glass. Pour the contents into a different glass and you get a whole new perspective on what you have. Go back and look at all photos of the olim and think on how each of them has the potential to change the history of Israel and the destiny of the Jewish people. Jewish history has shown that just a few individuals can make a difference for Am Yisrael. May the new olim have positive influences on their families, friends, neighbors and may they enjoy all the special everyday events in their new homes. Welcome Home! Time for the jobs......
