Hi Everyone! On Wednesday night, I went to the demonstration against the settlement freeze. It took place at Kikar Paris in Jerusalem. I took photos and posted them online at: http://www.jr.co.il/rally/r119.htm Whether you support settlements or not, you may find the posters interesting and creative. Needless to say, they were not praising Bibi or Obama. Earlier in the week, I went to a meeting where the mayor of Ma'ale Adumim (where I live) gave us a better understanding of some of the major financial problems the freeze will cause. Think of the hundreds of people who took out mortgages, bought plots of land, gave down payments to the contractors and are now frozen in limbo. How will they pay their mortgages and frozen development and pay rent, all at the same time. This includes all areas in Judea and Samaria - even the areas that most people agree will remain in Israel after peace negotiations People who want to build a porch on their current apartment, companies that were in negotiations to start building or expanding factories in industrial areas, companies that employ thousands of Jews and Arabs. This will affect people and companies on both sides of the "green line". The number of contractors that run into financial problems can be very, very big. I do not believe that these problems were taken into consideration before the 10 month freeze. Even if you do not support the settlements in Yehuda and Shomron, you need to wonder what Israel gained from this decision. I for one, do not believe that next week or 10 months from now, things will change from an Obama or Europe or Palestinian point of view. They may get worse. Why wait 10 months to face the music (again) ? Ok...I expect some flame emails, but I do not see what this move has done for Israel in the short or long term. Sorry if I offended any CJI readers but every so often, over the past 16 years of CJI, I need to open my mouth on things that hit home. End of politics, back to Chanukah.... ------------------------------------------------------------- Just in time for Chanukah, My Hebrew Songbook is back and now has its own domain and website. http://www.my-hebrew-songbook.com Enter the songbook and choose the category Chanukah. You can view any song online or create printed song sheets with several songs together for a sing along. All Hebrew is graphic so you do not need Hebrew support to view or print the songs. All songs include Hebrew nikud (vowels). You will find the popular Chanukah songs here (Sivivon, Maoz Tzur, Al Hanisim, Yemay Hanukah, etc...) but also songs that you may have forgotten from many years ago. Feedback is welcome. In addition to the Chanukah songs, I updated the following pages: 144 Cool Chanukah Videos on YouTube: http://www.jr.co.il/videos/chanukah-videos.htm 21 Chanukah Humor Files http://www.jr.co.il/humor/chanuka.htm 145 Chanukah Resource Sites http://www.jr.co.il/hotsites/j-hdaych.htm ------------------------------------------------------------- My Virtual Chanukah party on Facebook has over 700 guests already.
