Hi Everyone! Today was the third day of Chanukah and today we had many miracles in Israel. Terrorists in Gaza launched over 60 rockets into Israel and several directly hit houses. By a miracle, there were no serious injuries. 27 people were treated for shock. Tonight, the government finally decided that Israel will respond to the attacks. I hope that the response, when it comes, will be affective. ------------------------------------------------------------- It has been over a month since the last CJI report. Chag Sameach, Jacob ------------------------------------------------------------- As many of you have noticed, since the beginning of the summer, the CJI report has reported fewer jobs each mailing. Today's report has only 3 companies listed. I think this is the first time in 15 years that this has happened. The job situtation is very tight. This does not mean we (including myself) should give up. There are companies making money and also hiring. However, I do not think they are publicizing their positions in a regular way. Many are probably hiring via internal recommendations or via word of mouth. The question is: How do you find the companies ? In my opinion, it is very important to follow the Israeli financial news during these lean times. Yes, most of the news is negative, but there are also positive things happening. One of the papers I read for free is Globes (available online in English and Hebrew). When a company announces publicly a new contract or a new venture, many of them will need personnel within a few weeks or even days. Most of these companies have IT departments. Do not wait for a job ad. If you see a company is expanding, find out what they do, and if you have skills they may need - contact them directly. Search your social network for people connected to them. Refer to the positive announcement they made or was reported. Do not wait for the job ad which may result today in hundreds of resumes being sent in. Be creative, try making connections with the company - even walk in off the street. Again, follow the news. If the Israeli government tries to give incentives (not done yet) to various companies to hire, contact them before job announcements that may or may not appear. If you are on unemployment compensation, do not wait till it runs out before looking. If you are independent (like me) there is no unemployment, so do not wait around for the miracle. Unpaid bills start piling up very quickly. Let's hope that things improve in the near future. I am not sure when the next CJI report will be. I try to find and announce good developments via my blog and Twitter. I will also try and post to Twitter more positive announcements related to Israeli company developments. My Twitter acount is: http://twitter.com/jacobrichman You do not have to be a Twitter memeber to read my messages. So far, I have not had one sufganeiya (jelly doughnut) during Chanukah. However, there are still 5 more days left and it is a Jewish holiday that needs to be celebrated. Right ?! : -) Happy Chanukah! Jacob ------------------------------------------------------------- The CJI report has been published on-line since June 1993. Please make a small donation to support this CJI report. http://www.J.co.il/donate.htm Archives of the CJI reports can be found at: http://www.cji.co.il Please do not send resumes to CJI or Jacob. Send resumes directly to the companies listed. Contact information is listed before each position or group of positions. ------------------------------------------------------------- Computer Jobs in Israel Report: BW081224.TXT Bi-Weekly Report Editor: Jacob Richman Ma'aleh Adumim Israel Dates: December 19, 2008 to December 24, 2008 Position Titles: Computers + Selected Others ------------------------------------------------------------- Companies covered in this CJI report: Oorah Mikadot Computer Services LTD TimeBridge Total Companies: 3 ------------------------------------------------------------- Positions covered in this CJI report: Multilingual People 1 Web Designer 1 Web Developer 1 Total positions: 3 ------------------------------------------------------------- ** Mikadot Computer Services LTD Computer services and program development for art companies and galleries Address: Gershon Shatz 21, Tel Aviv No. of Employees in Israel: 1-10 Company Established: 1/2005 Phone: 03-527-3786 Fax: 077-713-0132 Email: mirit@agora-gallery.com Contact: mirit Web Site: http://www.mikadot.co.il ------------- --> Multilingual People (CJI-01) Updated: 24-Dec-2008 Description: Small American company located in Tel Aviv is looking for native Portuguese and / or Italian and / or Polish and / or Korean speakers for internet research and online marketing tasks.
