On Monday night, Ido Zoldan z"l, a 29 year old Israeli, father of two, was murdered in a terrorist shooting attack near Kedumim. A terrorist cell was waiting in ambush in the area for Israeli vehicles. I posted a picture of him and his wife and one of his sons at: http://www.jr.co.il/terror/israel/index.html This week rockets and mortars from Gaza continue to hit Israeli settlements and towns in the Negev. Why do I mention these two items ? First, I do not know if people outside of Israel are aware of them because the foreign media barely reports on attacks on Israelis in Israel. Everyone is busy with the Annapolis meeting. This includes our own government. Second: I love our people and our country. However, I and many Israelis, are getting fed up with our current government which is not looking out for its own citizens whether they live in Kidumim, Sderot, Tel-Aviv or Ma'ale Adumim. The citizens of all these places pay taxes and finance the government. In return the government should be protecting them. So what is our government doing ? On Monday, the Israeli Cabinet approved the release of 441 Palestinian prisoners as a gesture of goodwill to Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. We also approved the transfer of a shipment of armoured vehicles and ammunition to Abbas's security forces. Will someone please tell me what government in the world, in their right mind, would do such a thing ? Did we forget about what happened in Gaza so quickly ? We gave them land, we kicked out all the Jews, we gave them weapons and we got back rockets and mortars. We insisted (USA and Israel) that they have elections and the "Palestinians" voted in Hamas. We threaten to close their electricty for a few hours every time they fire rockets at us and our justice system says that it would be too harsh. Our government is afraid to launch a militray cleanup in Gaza because it would disturb the Annapolis meeting. Our security services are warning us that we are making big mistakes here but our government is ignoring the warnings. In my opinion there are three people who are forcing this craziness on the Israeli public: Ehud Olmert, Condoleezza Rice and George Bush. Olmert can be stopped by Shas and Yisrael Beitenu leaving the government or by Attorney-General Menahem Mazuz pressing criminal charges against Olmert for one of several corruption files being investigated. As it looks right now, pressure on Shas and Yisrael Beitenu may give quicker results. For those living in the USA, it is very simple. We are entering a US election year and if you feel that Israel is being cornered into doing things that could endanger us, please speak out. Write, fax and call Congress and speak out at political gatherings. Ok......I know I may get some flack and flaming on this especially from new subscribers who where just looking to find a job. However, I just felt that it was time for me to speak up and say something that may influence others into action.
