Hi Everyone! Last week there was no CJI report. We are now on a summer schedule which means that the report may not be every two weeks. If you are on the flight and you take pictures at JFK or on the airplane, please send them to me and I will post them. Also, if you are on the flight and you see me (5-11, kipa, glasses, mustache) make sure I get to take your picture with family or friends or solo. For those that never went to the airport to greet the new olim - it is a great experience and highly!! recommended. There will be many olim flights arriving this summer. You can search for specific common interests including specific favorite movies, books, TV shows, politics, etc... You can also make your profile private (not searchable or viewable by the public). I joined to make social and business connections. There are hundreds of groups and I already joined 27. Not sure which ones I will be active on. If you are a member (free) you can look me up and send me a message. If you send a friend invite, please let me know that you know me from CJI. (I do not own stock in Facebook but I do think it is cool.) ------------------------------------------------------------- Yesterday was the 17th of Tammuz - the start of the three week period of national mourning, during which we focus on disasters that befell the Jewish People throughtout history. I updated the links on my hotsites at: http://www.jr.co.il/hotsites/j-hdayav.htm One of the customs during the three weeks is that it should be a time of increased giving of charity and Torah study (in keeping with the verse (Isaiah 1:27), "Zion shall be redeemed by law, and her returnees by charity"). This week I was forwarded a timely short video that covers a worthwhile project of Yashar Lachayal. http://www.yasharlachayal.org They filmed a short video in Sderot where they purchased supplies in Sderot stores for soldiers stationed around Gaza. Yashar LaChayal is different from other organizations - 100% of the donation goes directly to Israel's soldiers needs. The expenses to run the organization are covered by a foundation.
